Shinogi Japanese Soup Bowl (Gaiwan)
Riso Porcelain's Shinogi Japanese Soup Bowl is a lidded bowl with a saucer, a form borrowed from the gaiwan tradition and well suited for Japanese soups, steamed egg custard (chawanmushi), and other small, delicate dishes that benefit from being covered. Fine Shinogi ridges run around the exterior of the bowl, giving the clean matte white Arita porcelain surface a quiet texture and depth. The lid keeps heat and fragrance close until the moment it is lifted at the table. Designed by Shinichi Terauchi, made in Arita, Japan.
